Material Storming

This week we went back a little bit in time and felt we are in kindergarten again :)
In order to understand the spatial space at the bus and to see how and where we should locate our prototype, we had to use and play with material objects.
We felt the materials, whether it was soft, though, big, small, transparent, circular or squared. An important part of building a prototype is to feel the materials, to see if they are fitting to the environment, to the need, to the driver and the passengers in the bus.
Finally, we decided to build a machine that looks like a human- with eyes and a mouth that will be located at the center of the bus. In addition to this machine, we built a speaker whose holes would be with the shape of a heart.
Moreover, we used plasticine to build the seats of the passengers and tiny dolls to express the passengers.
The frame of the machine was built with a tough material, a square, but the inside was made from plasticine which is soft and pleasant to touch. Inside the machine we made tiny buttons, also made from plasticine, where people will press when they need to use the machine.
The pins we put across the bus were in order to express the post where the passengers handle during the ride.
After the class we decided to think again about our prototype because we didn't feel that we are focused enough on our need and in a solution that makes us feel enthusiastic.
We changed our prototype to a little robot that will make gestures both to the driver and the passengers, and in that way will improve the relationship between them.
The interaction with the robot will not be with touch or speak, but with visible gestures in which the passenger and the driver, each one in his turn, will feel that someone cares about him.
We still need to think about the way we will develop the robot (which will be in a friendly looking figure), but till then, here are some pictures of what we did this week :)
